For the uninitiated, allow me to present rice cake theory.
To expand upon the very obvious as outlined above, I’ll put it this way. A rice cake is a thing that you can use to make a difficult decision. It doesn’t have to be just a rice cake. For instance, I find Twilight by Stephanie Meyer to be a wonderful rice cake for the creative mind. If I have too many stories talking in my head at one time, I find that book to be very good at clearing out space so that only the loudest of the stories can continue talking.
If you’re going to try being literal with it, the concept applies primarily to plain rice cakes in the example listed above. It may not make sense to everyone, but I haven’t had a consistent appetite in about 17 years, so sometimes eating gets boring. I know I have to eat, I eat on a schedule so I don’t turn into a rage demon at people, but when friends ask me where we should go eat I tend to get this look…
